Mr. And Mrs. Gabe Watson came to Australia from Hoover Alabama for their honeymoon. Mrs. Watson, who was an inexperienced diver, got into difficulty in strong currents on her second dive. She panicked tearing the mask and regulator from her face. Mr. Watson said he was unable to help her and thought it best to leave her rescue to other divers in the group, even though Mr. Watson is a certified rescue diver. Another diver brought Mrs. Watson to the surface from 100-feet. Foam was coming from her mouth. Forty minutes of resuscitation failed to revive her. Witnesses are being questioned about the possibility that Mrs. Watson’s air may have been turned off underwater. When questioned by police, Mr. Watson denied having his wife make him beneficiary of an insurance policy just days before the trip. Mr. Watson has claimed a large settlement through his wife’s insurance policy. In April, Australian police and the FBI raided Mr. Watson’s home in Alabama seizing a computer and documents. Mr. Watson remains in the U.S.
