A friend who likes to dive got me interested and I wanted to be certified so I'd know what I was doing. That's coming up soon,  although I was unable to get it done before the most recent trip we planned to go diving on. I want to get more experience but it will soon be too cold in the area to go anywhere locally. Any suggestions on beginner friendly locations to practice skills with knowledgeable support would be appreciated. Once I'm certified, I'm the type that needs to initially review and practice to maintain abilities.

You can always go and talk to your LDS to see if they have any open pool nights that you can go to and pratice. I know pool diving is boring but if u are looking for just skill practice it works well. Remember to dive in the equipment that you will be using so you get comfortable with all of your gear. The pool will help you perfect your buoyancy since the first 20 feet oaths hardest to maintain good buoyancy

Just completed my first dive class with Captain Derrick. It was great! I can't wait to get certified!  I will need a lot of practice as well and hope that I can find a pool nearby that has equipment to rent to do this. I am in SW suburbs of Chicago if anyone has any suggestions where to go please advise. Thanks and Happy Diving!
