Is it safe to wear contacts while scuba diving? I'm worried that the pressure change will cause discomfort. What's the worst thing that could happen? I've heard about masks that you can insert prescription lenses into, but I'm not sure where to find them. Thanks!

For what it's worth, I always wear my contacts when I dive. I've never had any problems whatsoever, and it's much easier than buying prescription masks. And besides, you can actually see where you're going when you're headed down to the water all geared up! (I often have to play the seeing-eye dog for my boyfriend, who relies on prescription mask.)

Most divers who regularly wear soft contact lenses have few, if any, problems wearing them while diving. Rarely, a lense might come off and get lost but that does not seem to happen often. Most divers who wear contacts while diving keep a spare pair handy. Hard lenses cannot be worn while diving because the gas exchange with the eye tissue is not considered sufficient. Also, hard lenses will not stay on the eyes if your mask floods.
