Before I purchased my motorcycle I took a class that the state if Illinois offered. I am so glad I took the class rather than getting a permit and driving next to my friend while he was on his bike. There is always little hints and techniques that I picked up during the course that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. My friends are all Padi certified and I am taking a Naui course and feel the differences so far feel like when I took the motorcycle class. Now I just have to tell my friends that Naui is just as good or better than their Padi certificates. I feel in good hands with my instructor.

The certs are all pretty much the same. It all comes down to the instructor.

I agree. I got certified in 1978 at OLympic Scuba School in Walnut Creek California. My instructor was totally cool and outstanding.  Later in 1979 I became a Navy Diver and we received the NAUI advanced. NASDS which I received in 1978 was way ahead of their time. On my card was a microfiche file that could be read. I have tried to get a new NASDS card but it appears they are out of country mostly. NAUI and PADI are great. In 2005 I needed to get a new NAUI card-I still had the old one from 1979 and beleieve it or not I was able to get a replacement. Good schools and good instructors go a long way!
