I am interested in finding out some information on a fatality that occured about 6-7 years ago in Lake Geneva. Black Magic Dive Shop in Woodstock Il. was involved. If anybody knows any information about this incident I would like to know who was involved and what happened. I have heard just bits and pieces about this incident and I don't know what is truthful and acurate and what is not, but it sounds like an interesting story on what can go wrong with recreational dive training. Was anybody out there on site when this occured?

The shops name was "Baracuda Brads" in Woodstock not Black Magic,
Ricky and Black Magic had a clean history.

Sorry for the mistake. Was Barracuda Brads in Woodstock? Do you know anything more about this incident? I am really interested in how training agencies treat this sort of incident and the people involved. I would like to research this more with help from people on this site. Do you know the year this occured? Or anyone involved? I think it would make a great story. I remember hearing about this about 7-8 years ago. All kinds of stories and conjecture from many different sources.

Only the location, and the shop. Other than that, not much.

I thought it might be easy to find a newpaper article or something online, but I couldn't find much:

Google Forum
"I heard that a 21 yr old diver was lost on Lake Geneva this weekend.  I understand that he was from Illinois with a group of about 10 other divers. Apparently the group lost him and found his body later...he had drowned."

If the fatality took place in the North suburbs perhaps there is an article to be found in the Northwest Herald. Can those archives be searched online?
