I recently was diving in the Bahamas on a liveaboard. There was a dive instructor onboard that must have weighed in at 350-400 pounds. He was instructing 4 students and he was out of breath by the time he struggled into a wetsuit the size of a hot air balloon. He must have been wearing at lest 40 pounds of weight. On one dive he had to abort because he could barely breath while swimming into the current. I thought he was going to have a heart attack right in front of his students! The current was not that strong and many entry level divers had no problem. It was shameful that this individual was allowed to instruct in his physical condition. He was in worse shape than anyone on the boat! PADI is always stressing safety. How about stressing the physical fitness of the instructors representing PADI. Is'nt there any fitness requirements for instructors?
