I recently went to a dive shop and saw a product called resue tape. It is a self fusing repair tape. I was thinking about using it on my boat. Does any body have any experience with this product. Will it seal around oily surfaces.

Good morning! In June I received a sample of rescue tape from Harbor Products www.harborproducts.comwww.rescuetape.com I kind of just put the samples to the side. Didn't give them much thought. I developed a leak in the plumbing under my kitchen sink and thought I would make an emergency repair with the tape. I wrapped it around the leak ( the pipe was wet) and it sealed the leak permanently. I traveled for the next 2 weeks before I could make the repair properly. It didn't leak a drop. I don't know how it would work on oily surfaces.

Has anyone seen this tape in any retail outlets around the Chicago area? I can't find it.

I couldn't find it either, so I Googled "Rescue Tape" and their website pops right up. I called the company and they said that they are gonna launch it at DEMA this year and start selling it at all the dive shops. Until then, they sell it on their website. I first saw this at the strictly sailboat show in Chicago last year and bought 3 rolls. It's really awesome stuff. The clear stuff seems to work the best underwater.

Rescue tape's website is www.rescuetape.com ( I made a couple of typo's in my post above) This is a good product and Friday last week Rescue Tape signed on as a website advertiser with Midwest Scuba Diving Magazine. There will soon be a banner ad with link on our website. You can also reach them toll free at 877-847-2628.
