How often do you encounter sharks when scuba diving in the ocean? Any advise how to stay calm? How will you know when to actualy defend yourself ?

Seeing sharks on scuba dives is quite common. Nurse sharks don't move much, so if you are in an area where they live you will see them. Other sharks will often come in close when they hear divers but will leave once they see who we are. If you are not looking for them, you will miss seeing them.
Sharks do not particularly like to eat people. If they did we would surely not want to swimin the ocean. Nearly all shark attacks fall into one of three categories:
1. Mistaken identity - Attacks on surfers fall into this classification. Sharks look up at their prifile and see what looks like a seal - yummy. When they take a bite and find it doesn't taste like a seal they spit it out. 2. Shark feeding or spear fishing - The shark bites off a little more than the bait fish. 3. Molestation - A diver grabs on to a nurse shark's tail, hoping for a ride and the shark objects.
Don't feed the fish, don't touch and you will be fine. Relax and enjoy seeing them when you have the opportunity.
