Is there a simple formula to decide how much weight to use when going from fresh to salt water? Also, is there a way to figure in the thickness of your suit to the equation? I use a 7mm here with 23 lbs(frsh water), I am going to salt water with a 1 mm suit. Any suggestions?

You leave out some information, but the basic starting point for salt water is 5% of your body weight. A 1 mm suit adds little bouyancy. You'll need to do a wieght check on your first dive (or your checkout dive). The dive operation should understand. See the basic weighting guidelines for starting points of weighting. Remember that these are only a guide and will vary from person to person.
