I just got back from Our World Underwater yesterday and was looking up some scuba stuff this morning. Did anyone else know there's a Shadow Divers movie "in production" right now and set to be released in 2009.

IMDb.com
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466328/

Director
Peter Weir

Plot Outline:
Two wreck divers discover the hull of German U-boat off the coast of New Jersey and spend the next seven years of their lives searching for the truth behind the ship and men who died inside it.

Speculations
Joaquin Phoenix will play Richie Kohler?
Tom Hanks as Chatterton (in other forums)?

I actually spoke a bit with Carla on Friday night and she had said they were pleased with the choice to go with the new director. In the past, there were talks of Ridley Scott directing. They decided to go instead with the new director because he could focus exclusively on the movie, instead of competing against other projects (what would have been the case with Ridley Scott).

She said overall they were pleased with the screenplay and that it stayed pretty true to the book.

Looking forward to its release....it's been in the works for forever, it seems!!

Yeah, there's a forum on the History Channel website where Chatterton said they want to be played by Meatloaf and Danny Devito...funny stuff.

I was looking around for more Shadow Divers underwater photos and commentary and found this:

About 2/3 down the page is a short story on when Richie Kohler spoke at a conference on Shadow Divers. It took place on Jan 28, 2006 and the 40 minute discussion and Q & A session can be downloaded in MP3 format at:
