Has anyone completed successful dives with chronic sinus problems? What did you do to contribute to your success? Any recommendations? Things to avoid?
Thanks!

I hate to recommend this, because it goes against all diving standards. I have chronic sinus issues, and I use Afrin nasal spray prior to my dives, due to my allergies and sinus problems. Again, I am not recommending this for you. I would recommend that you see your family doctor, find out what he/she recommends, and follow those recommendations. It's a very common diving problem. Happy diving!!!

The use of drugs is very controversial, but most of us rely on then at some point when we dive. YOu need to find what works for you on a long term basis. Sudafed is what everyone is told to use. Sorry, but it does not work! If you have this problem regularly, then you probably know what works for you and how long it takes to become effective. I use Zyrtec-D, starting the day before diving and continuing for a day or two after. B ut if I can't rectify the problem, then no diving.

Thanks! I forgot all about Afrin. That should work fine! I appreciate the advice.

I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly as my first response appears twice.
I take sudafed daily and it usually works pretty well. I'll keep Zytec-D in mind. Guess I'll know as soon as I try the first real dive! Thanks for the suggestion!
