Does anyone have suggestions for a beginner diver to go diving in the St. John/St. Thomas/Tortola area? Thanks.

I have a suggestion GO SAILING! All the dives I have ever been on in this area were shallow and unspectacular. Better snorkeling for kids! I would go to the Florida Keys before the Virgin Islands. Better diving, better wrecks and easier to get to and cheaper.

Re: Virgin Islands Diving
thanks for the response, dvrdwn, but this doesn't help me. I've been to the Virgin Islands many times, and done a lot of sailing and snorkeling. In addition to those activities, I'm looking for an idea on beginner diving spots off of St. John, St. Thomas or BVIs, since that is where I'm heading next month. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Nancy C,
When we went to the US Virgin Islands we dove on Coki Beach which is NW part of St. Thomas. There is a mobile dive shop (UPS delivery truck but different color)with Instuctors and dive masters on hand right on the beach.

Oh and the dives were beach entry, very relaxing and basic.
