My wife and I are just starting out in diving, and heading to Cancun in January.  Any tips on where to dive, what operators to dive with, or things to avoid?
Thanks in advance.

I was diving down in the CanCun area back in October.  I dove with WetSet Water Adventures, and they were fantastic.  They will work around any schedule you have, even last minute dives.  They have all the gear you need, with no rental fees.  Their prices are better than any, and are very friendly.  Their website is wetset.com.  They are actually in Puerto Morelos, but not very far from CanCun.  Paul, the owner, is a great guy and very knowledgeable. They are from Texas, so language is not a problem either.  Have a great time.

Thanks for the detailed response. How is the water temperature in the Cancun area in the winter?   Would a 3mm wetsuit be recommended / sufficient?

I dove in October in swim trunks.  But I am a "MidWest" diver.  I believe that a 3mm would be just fine.
