I am looking to buy and Air-Integrated dive computer. What type of computer would be right for me to use? I am an advanced diver with little of 20 dives logged, but wish to buy a computer between the price fo $900-$1,200 that is again, air integrated. Please suggest types and manufacturer names, as I do not know what to buy. Thanks.

I'm not a real fan of air integrated computers because I think that gas supply pressure is too important a piece of information to trust an electronic device to provide. A simple analog spg is extreemly reliable and easy to read.
That said, the best computers have large display numbers and do not display information that is not needed. The computer should be easy to program and easy to use. We are all stupid underwater. If you have to study a manual to figure out how to use the computer it is probably too complicated.

Personally, I would look for one with user replaceable batteries as well as what Dale said. I also prefer one with download capabilities.

Yeah, download capability is nice, and I won't even consider one without user-replaceable batteries.

I'm in the market for a new computer as well and am leaning towards the VR3 (http://www.vr3.co.uk). Anyone have any opinions on it...good or bad? I am not a technical diver yet, but will be getting there very soon.

I'm in the same position as you. A lot of the guys I know use the VR3's or the now discontinued DiveRite Nitek. I'm saving up for the new DiveRite tec computer due out this summer, the Nitek X.

cochran makes only dive computers
The GEMINI is two dive computers that communicate over a proprietary wireless link. The tank-mounted computer measures cylinder pressure, depth, etc. and computes, stores, and transmits all data to the Intelligent Wrist Unit. The Intelligent Wrist Unit measures its own depth, etc. independent of the Tank Unit while simultaneously receiving and displaying updates from the Tank Unit. The Intelligent Wrist Unit is a full-featured dive computer that can act independently from the Tank Unit should the need arise. Multi-blend configuration features Cochran's patented gas blend switching.
this is the best computer on the market.

I dive with a VR3. I bought it with the tri mix software but not the color screen. I only have 28 dives on it and it hasn't given me any trouble.

Thanks, James. It's always good to hear how other people are doing with it. I've heard only good things about it from everyone.

I have had nothing but problems with wireless, from personal experience I think the units need more time to develop better batteries, and a more reliable transmitter design. I've owned 3 units and have been disappointed in all of them. (Dacor, Uwatec & Aeris) Dumped them all on eBay.
Now I use only Air Intragrated Hose Units (500AI and my old reliable Phoenix) and a Aladin Pro & Nitek as back-ups.
