How fast do you need it ?

I have 10 and need 5 more tanks for hydro to get the best price.
If I get 15 tanks they are $25.00ea. with Hydro, Vip, and fill.

Hydro testing is usually done by fire extinguisher service facilities.  Turn around time, if you drop off and pick up, ranges from 1 to 4 days.  Not every facility wants to do business with individuals.  If they do, they will usually charge around $35 dollars for hydro'ing a single tank.  The charge for a shop or someone who does a lot of business with them will be about $19 to $20 or so.  Add to that the cost of transport, a VIP and fill and $25 is a true bargain.  A VIP sticker alone costs the LDS about $2.

You need tgo ask your self for $24 what kind of service are you getting? Most hydro facalities do not perform proper, or adaquate VIP to tanks. Ask the facility who's standards they follow while doing there VIP's. If you are sending an aluminum tank, are they doing specific testing on the tank neck using eddy current? Do they inspect the neck at all? If you are sending a steel tank are they purging the tank after the hydro with nitrogen to limit flash rust. Do they have the ability to tumble tanks if they need to be tumbled. I point this out cause I charge $25 for a VIP alone. Like your certification, do not look for the cheapest deal, look for quality in the service you are paying for.

I am not looking for the cheapest place just someone who can turn it around in a timely manner. If I am correct most hydro testing in my area is done by Aurora Tri-State. Which is a fire extinguisher place. I have used them as an individual before for a CO2 tank. I have aluminum tanks so the flah rust is not a concern, but I get what you mean. That would indicate that they are a quality shop and not some hacks. PDSLTD seems to be connected with the local fire dept. The FD probably gets a deal on testing their tanks. So if he is close enough, I can help him make his goal while getting my tank hydro'd we both win.

My Hydro-testing is done by a Lic. facility, and PSI Inspector(myself 35 years experience). Just don't have all the overhead and greed of the current Dive shops.
