While at the OW-U show, we learned of two local dive sites that were not on our website yet. They are Crosby Mine Pits near Brainerd, Minnesota and Devil's Lake in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Has anyone in the Midwest Scuba Diving forum been to these dive sites?

Read more about them on the Local Dives Sites page.

Devil's Lake in Baraboo was where I did my first unsupervised dives 30+ years ago with my friend Tom McDonald. Entry is from a very rocky shore. The lake is calm so the entry is safe. Watch your footing! There are very large granite boulders that have rolled down the cliff into 30 feet of water over 100yds. in legnth. A lot of bluegills and crappie I have seen large northern pike feeding on the bluegills. Water was clear whenever I have dove here. Flat muddy bottom away from the rock slides. I think the max depth in the whole lake is about 50-feet. Great topside attractions around Baraboo. Small town feel. Spectacular scenery and granite cliffs surround the lake. great hiking, camping and rock climbing. Great dive shop in the area called Three Little Devil's Dive Shop. Don't have contact info readily at hand but I know they are easy to find in Baraboo Wisconsin. Full service shop with everything. Polite and informative staff.
