I don't know what you think of this idea but how about organizing a Saturday and /or Sunday dive meet and greet at Haigh before the season ends.

I am new to this forum and think it would be a blast to meet you all.

Hi Tim,

That's a great idea. I'll talk to Darrick and see what his schedule looks like. We'll also get in touch with Tina to see if we can get some kind of special promotion for that day.

Woohoo ya mean I had a good idea LOL that does not happen often. That being said if you decide to have such an event let me know what I can do to help.

I just thought it would be a good way for all to meet. I am always looking for new dive buddies.

I'd try to attend, schedule permitting. But I am confused about this "season ending" statement. When does the dive season end?

December 31st. It's easy to remember the date, since it always falls on the day before the season opener...

Lets get some input from our subscribers! What would everybody like to do? Should we start a dive club? Should we meet at a restaurant once a month. Should we just meet to dive and maybe BBQ at Haigh? What is your ideas?

I don't think I would want to join another club, but I would certainly be in to meeting people at Haigh when I can and make a BBQ out of it.  A few of us in my scuba Meetup group will be doing that on Sept 2nd.  Maybe we could join forces!

Well I for one would love to be in a dive club but living in Northwest Indiana and most divers in the forums I interact with are mostly from the North Side of Chicago making the drive time to much for me.

I will be attendind the Meetup BBQ Dean mentioned and would be willing to do the same with Midwest Scuba

scubatim,

This is sort of off the original topic. You mentioned northwest indiana and interest in a club. Are you aware of http://aquanauts_dc.homestead.com .

Anything even come of this suggestion?  I've been out of pocket for a while, but would join either as a monthly club or just a meet & dive.  The club idea is appealing as it keeps people in contact year round.

Hi Larry,

I'm glad you posted to this thread as Darrick and I discussed it this past Thursday. He gets back from Florida tonight and I'll ask him to post what we discussed ASAP (hopefully tomorrow).

The boats will be out of the water soon, but there are still a few weekends left at the quarries, so we all have time to meet.

Captain Darrick and I discussed this and we decided it might not be a good idea to have a meet and greet. There are a lot of great scuba clubs in the area and they work very hard to make their organizations successful. One of the main purposes of Midwest Scuba Diving Magazine is to promote dive organizations and we feel this we might take away from clubs a little.

With that said, we also decided it would be a good idea to have a navigation link on the left menu for "Midwest Scuba Clubs". This new page would list Midwest scuba clubs and their websites. Look for it soon.
