I'm making summer plans to stay in Illinois. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to go scuba diving? I really like Haigh Quarry and I'd like to know if anybody has any experience with a place that is similar (maybe with less pink flamingos) Let me know about your experience and where the scuba site is located.
Thanks

If what you are looking for is quarry diving, there are other quarries in the area.  Pearl Lake is an old gravel quarry in South Beloit, just north or Rockford.  France Park in Indiana has diving.  Lake Wazee in  Black River Falls, Wisconsin is about a four hour drive but offers diving up to (or down to) a depth of 350 feet in an old iron ore quarry.

The "real" diving, however, is in Lake Michigan.  No where but in the great lakes will you find the number and variety of such well-preserved shipwrecks as we have right on our doorstep.
