MSD FORUMS - MIDWEST SCUBA DIVING
TOPIC: Website Updates

Tonight, some new updates were made to the website:

1. My Profile - You can now create your signature. When creating new forums topics or replying to a forum topic, your signature will automatically be pre-filled in the message area.

2. My Profile - There are now two options for receiving email. The first option is to receive emails only when new blogs are posted, new forum topics are posted or replies are made to forums you have participated in. With the current traffic we receive, this is about 4-5 emails per day (depending on how much you get involved).
The second option is to receive emails for all blog and forum activity. With the current traffic we receive, this is about 5-10 emails per day (depending on how much you get involved).

Darrick and I keep both checked (actually, if the second is checked, the first doesn't really matter). I like to read what people are talking about regardless if I get involved or not.

3. Photos & Videos - This is a very large section and is almost complete. I did upload the categories, but there are no pictures and you cannot create albums or upload pictures yet. I plan to have this complete tomorrow night.

As always, please let us know what you think and if you have any suggestions, send them our way.

Brian,
The prefill doesn't seem to be working.  I see a signature in "My Profile", but it isn't prefille in either a reply or a new thread.

Some other features that you may already be working on:
ability to e-mail or private message another participant (without needing to know their email address)
ability to attach a thumbnail photo to the left of a thread entry
ability to have the signature prefill on a reply to a blog entry.  I dislike the anonymous comments.
ability to auto-parse links in postings

Thanks!

Hi Grant,

Thanks for the feedback. I just fixed the signature pre-fill issue.

Your other ideas are great. The ability to upload a picture for the left side is on my To Do list already. I like the idea of being able to send emails as well. And showing the person's name on blog comments is also something I was thinking about too. Thanks again!

Updates just made to the website:

1. Under "My Profile", you can now upload a photo that will display under your name in the forums. Any size photo can be uploaded, but it will be sized down to fit the 75 pixel width.

2. Grant's suggestion - Display the person's username for blog comments. Darrick and I thought that was a great idea. Done!

Cool!  All seems to be working well, and I want to compliment you on your responsiveness to suggestions!  I'm sure I can't always count on my suggestions being accepted so rapidly, though! :)
