My wife and I are going to get our advanced divers certifications in late September 2008. I work for a civil/structural engineering company in Illinois and I mentioned to my boss that I am going to be a advanced certified diver soon. I was wondering how much $$$$$$$ and time does it take to become a commercial diver focusing on non-destructive underwater bridge inspection? If the boss approves this kind of time and money he will pay the required funds and give me the time to do this commercial training/certification.

There are many commercial dive schools around the country. There are several right here in the midwest. Dive Training Magazine has many advertisements for commercial dive schools that teach non destructive testing. Commercial diving is my backround.
