NEAR DIVING FATALITY
6/16/2010 by Capt. Darrick Lorenzen | 0 Comments | 563 Views
I just wanted to advise our subscribers that in a recent blog named “Dive Story of the Week” there is a true story about a near diving fatality that occurred May 23rd in Key Largo. The interesting story contains some lessons which should be learned by all divers. The most important thing I learned from the incident is the importance of having an easy to operate oxygen kit. I just recently was involved in a rescue and the oxygen kit that was delivered was pre assembled and easy to operate. When things go wrong and lives are at stake the last thing any rescue diver is capable of is the detailed assembly of a mechanical device. Simple is better in high stress emergency situations. Check your oxygen kit and make sure you thoroughly understand its assembly and operation. Your life and the lives of others may depend on it!
