This Sunday, July 25, Haigh Quarry will be hosting its largest event of 2010, the Jim Haigh Memorial dive. The annual event is hosted by Tina Haigh to honor the memory of Jim Haigh, her beloved husband who passed away after a tragic car crash in 2001. There will be a band, silent auction of dive merchandise and trips, food, fun and other attractions. It is possibly the most attended event by Midwest scuba divers in the region. Close to 400 divers will be attending this year’s festivities. Midwest Scuba Diving Magazine will be set up near the stone pavilion at water’s edge. Look for our banner and come by to say hello! This is one event that shouldn’t be missed! Learn more about the quarry by clicking on Local Dive Sites on our navigation bar. You can also go to www.haighquarry.com This year Midwest Scuba Diving Magazine is donating a weekend trip to Crystal River Florida where you can swim with Manatees and dive the crystal clear caverns, grottos and springs that are hidden throughout this picturesque area. Accommodations, equipment, air fills, entrance fees and all dives are included. The trip leaves on Friday morning and returns on Monday evening. 5 or 6 dives will be completed in several different venues. All dives will be personally guided by Captain Darrick Lorenzen. You have the choice of several weekend dates available in 2010 and 2011. Call Captain Darrick at 773-732-8972 for more information. The trip is valued at $900. Proceeds of the silent auction will be used to benefit U.S. veterans. Airfare and ground transportation is not included.
